My friends and I were charged with violations of our university’s code of conduct and were told that it was “likely” that we were going to be suspended. I reached out to Dr. Matt Colpitts with this information, just hoping for some guidance as I knew this is the kind of work he had done in the past. He offered tremendous support and advised me through the conduct process. Moreover, he kindly assisted me with writing a letter for me to send to the Dean’s Office. This letter covered all of the details of the issue, specifically about how there weren’t guidelines put in place by the University previous to this event, and therefore it was unfair to punish us so harshly. The letter also covered [our state’s] COVID-19 guidelines, specifically how we were not in violation of them. He not only helped me with the letter but by doing so immediately after I reached out to him, having things ready just two days after I asked him.
Matt’s efforts proved to be extremely helpful for mitigating possible sanctions, and in the end, I was not suspended from my University. I strongly recommend Dr. Matt Colpitts and GoodIvy for any student conduct matter similar to the one I was involved in.
